The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas and was doing business in France, Germany, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an area of growth for Washlet toilets and bidet seats, as opposed its "base" markets in Japan and China.

Origins

The album was a major blockbuster, but not without difficulties. Record companies put the band on the spot with the ultimatum "give us a hit record or we'll drop you" and the pressure was on to deliver. Luckily for Toto, they did with the help of the smash hit single "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery owes a lot to their prior experience since the members were session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. Their sonic signature has since become the standard for '80s pop, 먹튀검증 and has influenced many modern artists.

The album begins with a hefty dose of hard rock with tracks like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write fantastic AOR songs that slowly build their hooks into your. The album also includes some slow, jazzier tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. And the album ends with Great Expectations, a song that combines folk with distorted AOR and should sound completely wrong, but actually is incredibly effective.

After Toto IV The band's fortunes changed for the worse. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career, and the band went through several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band after drug charges. The band continued to play with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.

Toto released Isolation despite the turmoil. It wasn't as popular as IV. However, the band still had a successful chart-topping album in 1992, Kingdom of Desire. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was also the first to feature the new singer, Simon Phillips.

Tours

The band has performed across the world to a global audience of millions, and has sold-out shows in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia and New Zealand. The band's repertoire is huge and their catalog has accumulated over one billion streams on streaming services across the globe. The band's music has influenced many generations of fans.

Steve Lukather and Joe Williams have developed a deep and vibrant friendship that flourishes professionally on a global scale. In 2018 the duo celebrated their 40th anniversary of Tours Around the Sun with a hugely successful tour across the globe. The album of the same name landed at 5 on the Billboard 200. The band's new tour includes their most popular songs and rarely live cuts, alongside some of the songs from Lukather and Williams their individual catalogs.

Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was an attempt to return to the classic sextet format, and it was a more consistent, more powerful effort that had a more grittier edge. The more edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the maturation in the group. The drummer Bobby Kimball's increasing ability to play was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard work was also more sophisticated, sharper, and less derivative on previous recordings.

After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live concert in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The studio album came out shortly after, and the band embarked on a long-distance tour to promote the album. During this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started exploring old tapes and demos for a new record featuring songs that were never recorded before. It was released as a double-album titled Then and Now in 2001. It was the first album in the history of the band not to include a single song with the word "A" in its title and it included one previously not released track, "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial flop and the vocalist Williams was suffering from a severe laryngitis condition which hampered his singing. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.

Downes along with the other original members of Asia - Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened a meeting in England in early 2006 to discuss the possibility of formally reforming the band. This lineup, minus Howe who was working with Yes at the time, 안전놀이터 추천 (speaking of) became Toto XIV. They toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also had a special appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
