Albums

Before Toto was formed The members of the band played sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in 1976.

The third album of Toto, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their previous efforts and was criticized for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned The band held auditions to find a replacement frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering demos and tapes from the past to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and the band embarked upon an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
